The Montville public school system, which includes Uncasville and Oakdale, is served by the Montville School District . The school system has approximately 2700 total students and maintains six public schools. The two elementary schools are located in Oakdale are Dr. Charles E. Murphy School (Pre-Kindergarten to 5th grade) and the Oakdale School (Pre-Kindergarten to 5th grade) and Mohegan Elementary School (Pre-Kindergarten to 5th grade) is located in Uncasville. All middle school students attend Tyl Middle School (6th to 8th grade) and high school students attend Montville High School (9th to 12th grade) or the much smaller Palmer Academy (9th to 12th grade).
